Video Wallpaper
A lightweight macOS menu bar app that plays a video of your choice behind your desktop icons, on every display, and stays out of the way.
Why I built it
macOS only lets you pick still images or its own dynamic wallpapers. I wanted the short clips I shoot to live on my desktop instead of in a folder.
The existing tools were heavy or ad-filled, so I built the smallest thing that works: a menu bar item, a video library, and a window that sits exactly at the desktop layer.

What it does
Import any video into a library and switch wallpapers from the menu bar.
Borderless windows pinned to the desktop level, so the video sits behind app windows but above the static wallpaper, with icons still on top.
Seamless looping through AVPlayerLooper on every connected display, rebuilt automatically when screens are plugged in or removed.
Playback pauses when the desktop is fully covered or displays sleep, so it costs nothing while you work.
Pause, turn off, and launch at login from the menu, with no Dock icon.
